ELEVEN valued employees of the Ohlthaver & List Group of Companies (O&L) reaped the rewards of their hard work at a glitzy awards ceremony this weekend as each went home with an all-expenses paid trip to Mauritius.
President of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), Alpheus Muheua was keynote speaker at the event and commended O&L for setting a fine example "on good people management skills". He also said that, while the NUNW appreciated O&L's contribution to employment creation, there was still a lot to be done to improve the standard of living of workers. "Creating jobs is one thing, but paying people decent wages is another."
Muheua had only good things to say about O&L's plans for the future, which include investigations into providing permanent housing and a minimum wage for all employees. "This is truly a sign of visionary thinking and leadership on your side," he praised.
Corporate giant O&L, with subsidiaries in seven industry-related divisions, annually recognises employees for their contributions to the group over the past year. This is the sixth Value Star Awards Ceremony that has been held.
