Zimbabwe: Bus Driver Injured

Harare — A bus driver was injured after his vehicle, which had passengers on board, burst the front right tyre and veered off the road before crashing into a security wall near the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Glenara Avenue on Tuesday morning.

The driver, only identified as Mr Jonga, suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital by the owner of the bus.

The bus was travelling from Tafara into the city centre when the accident occurred.

Eyewitnesses said following the tyre burst, the driver lost control of the bus and hit the wall as he tried to avoid ocoming vehicles.

"The tyre burst and the bus veered off the road but the driver managed to avoid colliding with oncoming traffic from town," said one witness, who requested anonymity.
