Harare — Rotina Mavunga on Tuesday again defaulted appearing before a Chinhoyi magistrate to hear judgment in the protracted fraud case in which she is accused of conning the State into believing that diesel was oozing out of a rock at Maninga Hills.
Provincial magistrate Mr Ignatious Mugova has failed to deliver judgment since February owing to different reasons given for Mavhunga's unavailability, including ill health.
A warrant had already been issued for her arrest but it appears it was never enforced.
On Tuesday, the State retrieved the original warrant from the clerk of court and handed it over to police for enforcement. On Tuesday, her lawyer Mr Chandavengerwa Chopamba also failed to turn up for the judgment, prompting the court to remand her two co-accused, Martin Mazvazvido and another one whose name was not given to July 21.
Mavhunga was reportedly conducting ritual ceremonies at Dora in Guruve district.
Her lawyer had initially indicated that she would attend court but later telephoned to excuse himself saying he had failed to get fuel to drive to the court.
