Luanda — University lecturer Hermenegildo Mateus Mille Bento on Wednesday in Luanda, in an interview to ANGOP, said that Angola's participation in the G8 Summit might attract more foreign investment.
Hermenegildo Bento, who is a lecturer on the subject of international political organisations at the private Lusíadas University, defended this stance by explaining that the G8 Summit will enable a greater visibility and acknowledgement of the internal and external policies of the country, which he thinks result from many years of work.
According to him, since Angola has a budget that mostly depends on crude oil, and considering the current oscillations, it is necessary to start diversifying the sources of income.
Therefore, he said, the participation in this summit might enable Angola to attract new partners for a greater diversification of its economy.
He asserted that Angola is currently seen as an emerging power at the level of the southern Africa region and in the continent, and one of the country's main challenges is the materialisation of the national reconstruction priorities, which the government adopted since 2002, right after the end of the civil war.
So this programme, he concluded, also depends on the establishment of economic partnerships with other states.
