Ghana: Show Commitment to Technical Work - PM

Helena Selby

9 July 2009

The Presiding Member of the Ga South Municipal Assembly, Nii Abbosai Brade, has urged graduants of the Institute of Technical Supervision in Accra, to commit themselves to sacrifice, dedication and tireless effort wherever they would be working.

According to him, most of the developed countries, and the much-talked about Asian tigers, got where they are now on the back of huge investments in the technical capacity development of their workforce.

Speaking at the passing-out ceremony of the 28th Senior Technical Supervisory Management Course, he noted that the institute was a crucible for distilling, refining and cross-fertilizing of ideas.

He further said that the institute was uniquely placed to lead the renaissance of the country's industrial growth, if and when given the necessary support.

He added that the theme of the ceremony "Technical supervisory management capacity development, an effective tool for national industrial growth," falls in line with the importance the government attached to education.

"In this regard, the government will indeed ensure that the necessary investments are made in the development of technical capacity, so that our national industrial growth will be on track," he stressed.

On her part, the Human Resources Manageress of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Mrs. Rosina Brew, pointed out that the country needs confident, purposeful and well-motivated individuals, particularly in supervisory grades, to enable Ghana achieve its national goals and development objectives.

She explained that to ensure that the public sector in Ghana works effectively, better leadership was needed, and since the supervisory role occupies the frontline the leadership, there was no better way to strengthen the human development capacity, than to focus on supervisory skills training and development.

According to her, the country needs better leadership in the public service that focuses on service delivery, and that there cannot be better leadership if the people were not developed, particularly in frontline technical/vocational supervisory positions.

She indicated that there could only be good leadership if bold steps are taken to train the people as the technical supervision institute has been doing over the years, and more importantly, enhancing the remuneration system to motivate staff and encourage them to take on greater responsibilities.

In his report, the Principal of the institute, Mr. John N. O. Welbeck, mentioned that the institute was facing problems of finance, and that the only source of funding for the institute was fees collected from trainees, and rental of some of the institute's facilities. He said the greater part of this revenue is channeled into payment of lectures, feeding and lodging of participants, and minor maintenance of the institute's facilities.

Moreover, there was a problem of encroachment on the institute's land.

According to him, the rate of encroachment might hamper the future expansion of the school, and pleaded with the Ga South Municipal Assembly, not only to prevent further encroachment, but to also retrieve the portions encroached upon.

It's Not A Question Of Other Learned Societies.

It's The INFERIORITY COMPLEX WE HAVE TO SHED

St. Paul In A Letter To The Christians In Rome Said :

" For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among

you, NOT TO THINK OF HIMSELF MORE HIGHLY Than He Ought To

Think; but to think soberly, according AS GOD HAS D EALT TO EVERY

MAN THE MEASURE OF FAITH .

#1- - We All Should Think Highly Of Ourselves, Keeping In Our Mind That

God Gave Us Dominion Of The Earth , NOT EACH OTHER..

#2 - Each Of Us Are Given THE MEASURE OF FAITH..as in THE SAME

EXACT AMOUNT OF FAITH .

#3- With #1 & #2 In Mind, We Black Africans Can Do Anything Any One

Else Does . In Fact , Looking At What Many Black Africans Have Done ;

Especially In America, It Puzzles Me Why We Continue To Look For

Other Non- Black Races To Save Us And Help Us.

WE BLACK AFRICANS SUFFER FROM A PSYCHOLOGICAL / SPIRITUAL

CONDITIONING THAT IS CAUSING MANY OF US TO GO TO EXTREMES

OF SUBCONSCIOUSLY HATING OURSELVES , WHILE WE LOOK AT

OTHER RACES [ ESPECIALLY THE WHITE EUROPEANS ] AS GODS WHO

WILL SAVE US . I Have A Question That I Will ASnswer With Historical

Facts ; Do These Black African Inventors Need Saving ? For Example

Thomas Edison Is Attributed The Invention Of The Light Bulb, When

Actaully He Only Made The Glass Casing For The Light Filament Which

Was Actaully Invented By LEWIS LATIMER. TURN ON THE LIGHTS AGAIN

BLACK AFRICANS AND STOP LOOKING FOR MAN TO SAVE YOU.

HAVE FAITH IN GODS & CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELVES !!!!

HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS OF CONFIDENCE :

BLACK AFRICAN INVENTORS AND THEIR INVENTIONS

We Black Africans Can Be Self-Sufficient .

Here are some major Black Africans who have had an impact on the

world With their initiative These are INVENTORS . This Listing includes The

Inventor’s Name, Their Invention and in some cases the date the invention

was recognized and the invention’s U.S. patent number.

OUR DEEPEST FEAR By Marianne Williamson

Our Deepest Fear Is Not That We Are Inadequate, Our Deepest Fear Is That We Are Powerful Beyond Measure. It Is Our Light , Not Our Darkness That Most Frightens Us.

We Ask Ourselves, Who Am I To Be Brilliant, Gorgeous, Talented, And Fabulous ?

Actually Who Are We Not To Be ? You Are A Child Of God.

Your Playing Small Doesn’t Serve The World.

There Is Nothing Enlightened About Shrinking So That Other People Won’t Feel Insecure Around You.

We Are All Meant To Shine, As Children Do.

We Were Born To Make Manifest The Glory Of God That Is Within Us.

It’s Not Just In Some Of Us; It’s In Everyone.

And When We Let Our Own Light Shine We Unconsciously Give Other People Permission To Do The Same.

And As We Are Liberated From Our Own Fear, Our Presence Automatically Liberates Others

[NOTE – BEING AFRAID AND REFUSING TO GET INVOLVED WON’T STOP US FROM DYING. BUT BEING AFRAID CAN PREVENT US FROM LIVING]

(Nkosi Sikeleli Africa )

God bless Africa May her glory be lifted high Hear our petitions .

God bless us, Your children God we ask You to protect our nation Intervene and end all conflicts Protect us, protect our nation, our nation.

From the blue of our heaven, From the depths of our sea, Over our eternal mountain ranges, Where the cliffs give answer.

Sounds the call to come together, And united we shall stand, Let us live and strive for freedom, In South Africa our land.

[Enoch Mankayi Sontonga]

WAKE UP ! STAY UP MY BROTHERS & SISTERS ! BE SELF-SUFFICIENT IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
