Warri — FORMER Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Delta State and business mogul, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has dumped the ruling party for the Labour Party (LP) with thousands of his supporters.
The former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria announced his decision to leave the PDP at Kiagbodo, the country home of the former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark, when the national officers of the party, led by the National Chairman, Barrister Dan Nwanyanwu, paid a courtesy call to the elder statesman.
Chief Clark, who described him as a notable Deltan, said he fully endorsed the decision of Chief Gbagi to leave the PDP for another party, which he thinks his political salvation laid.
He said that so many people were aggrieved about the things going on in the PDP, both at the state and national level, but added that since the leadership did not want to listen to their grievances and resolve them, people were free to leave for other parties.
Chief Gbagi, one of the founders of the PDP in the state, said he was quitting the party because the PDP was not the party for anybody who has a future.
The business mogul said the state has been left for too long in the hands of criminals, saying as Deltans, the people should not allow some few privileged individuals to mortgage their future.
It is believed that with the entrance of Olorugun Gbagi to the Labour Party, the party would be the platform in which he would launch his gubernatorial ambition in the next governorship elections in the state.
