Warri — NIGER-DELTA Christian Leaders Forum met in Warri and resolved to participate fully in restoring peace to the Niger-Delta.
National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who presided over the meeting, told Vanguard, that "some of us have tried individually but we believe that we want to do more and as Christian leaders, we think the government should involve us more because we are the custodians of peace. If Jesus is the Prince of Peace, definitely, the church will be the custodian of peace".
At the meeting was the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Delta state, Archbishop Goddowell Awomakpa, Catholic Bishop of Bomadi, Anglican Bishop of Warri, Bishop Christian Ide, Bishop Diamond Emuobor, Bishop Simeon Okah, Bishop Clement Diolu, and Special Adviser to Delta State Governor on Religion, Rev Godspower Agbeduta, Rev Duke Akpososo and Rev Eddy Bebor.
Vanguard learnt that the Christian leaders took a number of decisions at yesterday's meeting but Pastor Oritsejafor said they would wait for another day to take a final decision on them.
To the youths, he said: "We appeal to them to work with the Christian leaders, work with the government to ensure peace in the region".
According to him, "we also appeal to the government to work with us, just as we would want to work with them".
