Warri — THE youth executive committee of Labobulouseigha autonomous community in Burutu council area of Delta State has admonished Agip Oil Company and a contractor intending to work in their area to come and negotiate with the right persons or they would be courting trouble for themselves.
The executive members rejected the agreement reached with just the Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Bakumo, and Secretary, Mrs. Rose Oguma, without the knowledge of all and the entire leadership of the community on July 7.
The community in a statement signed by Comrade Simon Oguma, president; Alese Ziegbe, secretary and Alfred Ogudu, Public Relations Officer respectively, maintained that the said agreement in respect of community assistance, employment chances and salaries were not acceptable to them in respect of the preparation of the Egrangbene DEEP. A. location about to be handled by Beks-Kemes.
The statement, which appealed to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to urgently intervene to save the situation read in part: "We, the youths and elders of the entire Labobulouseigha community, disagree with the settlement.
"We advise Nigeria Agip Oil Company Limited to come down to the grassroots to negotiate with us, most especially the contractor".
