POLICE in the Ohangwena Region are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a well-known local musician was run over by a car near Okongo in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Abednego Nakale (46) died on the spot. He was hit by a 4x4 Toyota bakkie belonging to an Okongo resident.

Nakale was apparently standing in the road at Okongo, trying to catch a hike to Ongwediva.

According to Ohangwena Police Liaison Officer, Seargent Abner Kuume Iitumba, Nakale had left a cuca shop shortly before the accident.

Abednego Nakale was a member of the band Ovakwaita vokOkongo (Soldiers from Okongo), which was to release its new album at Walvis Bay next week.

The band is known for the song 'Ondjokana Odhigu' ('Marriage is difficult'), which has a catchy tune and lyrics.
