Kampala — A demonstration involving a garbage collecting tractor during the launch of the waste management systems

FARM Engineering Industries have launched tractor-drawn systems for collecting garbage in Kampala city. The company manufactures and distributes agricultural and construction equipment.

Speaking at a demonstration of the new machinery, the firm's marketing manager, Mohinder Singh Chal, said: "We have ventured into the field of waste management because of the increased demand for proper waste disposal and the impending government ban on polythene bags, commonly used in waste disposal."

He said the system included skip loaders, compactors, garbage lifters and road sweepers.

Mohinder added that the equipment is cost-effective with a simple design, efficient fuel consumption and available spare parts.
