Uganda: NAADS Officials Warned Against Shoddy Work

Kitgum — Kitgum District chairman John Komakech Ogwok has warned sub-county Naads officials to provide effective leadership while implementing Naads projects in the district or risk losing their jobs.

He said the success of the Naads programme would depend on a leadership that can direct resources to the right people and places.

Mr Ogwok observed that some Naads officials inflate prices of commodities and pay contractors before they deliver supplies. The district boss said this on Monday while speaking at a two-day Naads annual review meeting in Kitgum town.

The meeting brought together sub-county Naads coordinators, sub-county chiefs and LC3 chairmen. "Don't be surprised if some of you (leaders) are asked to leave the office due to incompetence," Mr Ogwok warned. Recently, the Minister of Micro Finance, Ms Ruth Nankabirwa said Naads officials risk arrest for misusing government funds.
