10 July 2009

Kampala — President Museveni has elevated Mr Kagole Kivumbi to the position of permanent secretary and posted him to the Judicial Service Commission as the new top civil servant.

Daily Monitor has learnt that Mr Kivumbi who, until his appointment was the Director of Information in Office of the Prime Minister, was appointed together with five others; including the Director of Education in the Ministry of Education, Dr John Mbabazi and Uganda's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Mr Patrick Mugoya.

Daily Monitor could not get names of the other three appointees by press time as the Head of Public Service, Mr John Mitala, couldn't be reached. Mr Kivumbi will replace Mr John Kashaka Muhanguzi, who has been posted to Local Government, where he started work on Monday. Mr Muhanguzi replaces Mr Vincent Ssekono, who retired last year.

Mr Mugoya, who is Mr Ruhakana Rugunda's deputy, has had his position elevated to that of a PS. Dr Mbabazi is understood to have been posted to the Ministry of East African Affairs as new PS.
