Algiers — Youssou Ndure, the internationally renowned Senegalese mbalax super star, has joined the list of eminent pan-Africanists calling for a united Africa.

"African culture is second to none throughout the world, Africa is blessed with a dynamic and unique culture different from the rest of the world, African culture is the most powerful and dynamic force on the face of this planet," said the Senegalese musician. Youssou Ndure made these remarks on the stage at Oref Riaodri, an entertainment centre in the heart of Algiers, last Tuesday night, as part of the Panaf 2009, currently going on in Algeria.

For him, Africans and people of African descent most resolve and work hard towards achieving the lofty dream of African unity without delay. Youssou Ndure seized the opportunity to extend a deep sense of gratitude, honor and appreciation to the government and people of Algeria for organizing and hosting what he described as a rare Pan-African cultural festival, which brought together diplomats, artists, academics and students from all the 53 countries on the African continent and beyond.

Panaf 2009 Algiers showcases extensive African culture and serves as an interactive meeting point between people from around the world. The festival is seen as important for the development of Africa in all aspects of human development.
