"The Prime Minister, Head of Government, His Excellency Philemon Yang, yesterday, Thursday 9 July 2009 as from 11 :00 a.m. in the Prime Minister's Office, chaired an important Cabinet Meeting attended by Vice Prime Ministers, Ministers of State, Ministers, Ministers-Delegate, Secretaries of State as well as his close aides.
One item featured on the agenda, namely, the special statement of the Head of Government.
After renewing his congratulations to the entire Cabinet for having deserved the confidence of the Head of State, the Prime Minister dwelled on the priority actions reiterated during the Council of Ministers of 3 July 2009, as well as on the principles and methods of government work.
Regarding the main areas of government policy, he indicated that emphasis must be placed on:
increasing energy capacities by using thermal and natural gas resources, pending completion of ongoing hydro-power projects;
the quantitative and qualitative development of agro-pastoral production; and
the passage of mining projects to the phase of actual mining and the acceleration of infrastructure projects.
Alongside the implementation of these urgent actions, the Head of Government instructed that the other projects listed in the Programme of Greater Achievements be continued. These include education, health, housing, access to drinking water - the objective being to transform Cameroon from a country with high potential to an emerging nation while fully developing its potential for improving the living standards of its people.
For that, the Head of Government instructed ministers to resume ownership of values that are the bulwark of efficient governments, such as solidarity, accountability, a high sense of the general interest, respect of good governance and permanent contacts with the public within the framework of government communication before or alongside actions engaged or realized.
To conclude, the Prime Minister announced that each ministry will be notified of its roadmap in the days ahead.
The Meeting was adjourned at 11:20 a.m"
