Following the motor vehicle accident on Sunday, 28 June, at Faraba Banta, near the Roland Clinic, in which a 'Gele gele' vehicle, with registration number BJL 3524E, hit a young donkey, the Officer Commanding the Brikama Mobile Police, Mr. Jabang, has issued a warning to all animal owners to control their animals as the planting season has begun and crops are being sown.
"The rainy season has started and that farmers have sown all their crops in the field. Animals must not be allowed to destroy people's crops. That's bad and painful," said OC Jabang.
"Whether raining season or dry season all animals must be kept under control. We would not tolerate animals straying on the streets or invading and destroying people's work on their farms," he added.
He said there was a day when he was going to Giboro at night and found a lot of goats, sheep, donkeys etc lying down near the road. This, he said, is dangerous and can cause serious accidents.
The 'Gele gele' vehicle, said to be owned by one Bakary Badjie, was coming from Kafuta at around 1pm when it overran a young donkey that suddenly crossed the road. The donkey was seriously injured in the accident and the Gele gele's radiator, front lights, carburetor got damaged and its front side dented.
