Ghana: Deposit Market Shares of Banks (2008)

Market share is the percentage of industry sales of a particular company or product. The purpose of this analysis is to present deposit market share information of each bank in Ghana. The table shows the percentage of deposit held by each bank in 2008. Total deposit of all the banks was GHc6,942 Million.

Ghana Commercial Bank share of the deposit market in 2008 was 15% and the leader in the market. Second in position was Barclays Bank with 13% of the deposit market. Standard Chartered Bank was third in position with 11% of the deposit market. Ecobank was fourth with 10% of the deposit market. Stanbic Bank was fifth with 5% of the deposit market.

Zenith Bank was 4.83%, ADB (4.61%) Merchant Bank (4.56%), SG-SSB (4.38%) Intercontinental Bank (3.8%), Amalgamated bank (3.74%), First Atlantic Merchant Bank (3.41%) Prudential Bank Limited (2.81%), Cal Bank Limited (2.31%), Fidelity Bank (2.27%), UBA Bank (2.16%), The Trust Bank Limited (1.77%), Guaranty Trust Bank (1.31%), Uni Bank Limited (1.30%), HFC Bank (1.22%), International Commercial Bank (1.07%), UT Bank Limited (0.37%), Sahel Sahara bank (0.07%) and Bank of Baroda (0.04%).
