THE Northern Electricity Distributor (Nored) has announced its annual electricity tariffs for 2009/10.

Nored CEO Gotlieb Amanyanga said that a tariff review recommended an average tariff increase of 9,9 per cent (from ninety cents to N$1) effective from July 1 2009 and will remain unchanged until June 30 2010.

The electricity tariff increase has been approved by the Electricity Control Board.

"The tariff review is justified by the economic conditions and the cost of sale by Nored from the bulk supplier, but we are pleased to announce that our tarifffs are below the national bulk supplier's (NamPower) average increase," said Amanyanga.

He said the increase would allow the company to deliver effective service to clients. Nored customers are due to be informed of the tariff increase soon.
