THE promotion play-offs for the Southern Stream First Division will be played over two weekends at two different venues, chairman Kenneth !Gaoseb announced yesterday.
The move comes after Blue Waters opposed the fixtures that were scheduled for Windhoek last weekend.
The matches will now be played at Windhoek´s Independence Stadium and at Usab Stadium in Karibib on July 11, 12 and 18.
!Gaoseb said the executive committee meeting - in consultation with representatives of the participating teams and the Namibia Football Association (NFA) - decided unanimously on the new venues and format of the matches.
¨Hence no further communication whatsoever will be entertained by the league, especially with regard to the venue, date and format of the play-offs," he stated in a media release.
Blue Waters earlier complained of the congested fixture schedule which had to see them play three matches in succession in one weekend.
They also did not welcome the decision of having Windhoek as the venue for all the matches, saying it was unfair to the travelling teams in terms of costs and fan support.
!Gaoseb said the entrance fee of N$10 will hold at all the respective venues and that tight security personnel will be at all matches to maintain order.
* Meanwhile, former premiership side United Stars found their way back into top- flight football after they were relegated in 2002.
The side managed to collect the needed points at the weekend and despite having three matches to place still, they were already assured of promotion in their 6-0 win against Benfica.
United Stars will be joined by the winner of the three matches in the SSFD play-offs which will be concluded on July 18.
