WINDHOEK Schlachterei recently launched a new package design as part of the company's strategy to become a market leader in the processed meat producers industry.

The company, which already holds 25% of the market share, felt that the design of more appealing packaging was necessary to stay in touch with their customers' requirements.

Reception of the new brand has been overwhelmingly positive, company representatives report. "Consumers are assured of the same quality product dressed in new packaging," said the company's Managing Director, Anton Westraadt.

Windhoek Schlachterei has reported a significant increase in post-launch sales, as well as an increase in sales revenue in the first 6 months of 2009, when compared to the first half of last year, despite the recent slump in consumer spending.

"We haven't seen a down-turn in our revenue figures because of the recession," Westraadt said, adding that the company has seen an increase in their expenses.

Windhoek Schlachterei is Namibia's second-largest meat processor, and is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver and List Group of Companies.
