The House of Representatives yesterday mandated its committees on Health and Legislative Compliance to investigate the death of many Nigerians at the National Hospital, Abuja due to the strike being embarked upon by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives.
The MPs also summoned Professor Babatunde Oshotimehin, Dr Sam Egwu and Professor Dora Akunyili ministers of Health, Education and Information and Communication respectively to explain their roles in the ongoing strike in Health, Communication and Education sectors.
The Academic Union of Universities, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives and Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union have been on strike over their various demands from the Federal Government.
At yesterday's plenary, the MPs decried nonchalant attitudes of the Ministers towards stopping the strike, saying they need to brief the House on their roles in it.
