Africa: International Crises Affects Economies - President Dos Santos

10 July 2009

L'aquila — The Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos, Friday in L'Aquila, Italy, said that the world economic and financial crisis has affected the growth of the African countries.

José Eduardo dos Santos said so during the G8 Summit with the participation of African countries and international organisations and agencies.

The statesman added that the fact is fundamentally due to the reduction of assets, mainly financial ones, retained abroad, the reduction of incomes from the mining sector, as a result of the reduction in respective export prices, the constraints to the mining sector in its level of activity, investment, employment and profitability, among other aspects.

Thus head of State also spoke of the need to revise the current financial and economic systems and think of how to restructure them,

so that from a global perspective they serve the interests of all people and countries.
