Windhoek — Buks Bock, president of the Namibia Rugby Union, praised the private sector's continuing sponsorship towards rugby development in the country.
Bock said this at the Wanderers Rugby Club at the handover of an FNB sponsorship deal to Namibia's longest existing club.
"FNB's sponsorship to the Wanderers Rugby club is testament of the collective drive at the NRU, club and private sector level to build a formidable rugby nation," he said.
He encouraged members, management, players and supporters of Wanderers alike to treasure the newly formed relationship and nurture it in "true Namibian Rugby spirit".
"Take this opportunity to show private sector and corporate Namibia, that we have the resolve to create a great success story for rugby in Namibia," Bock said.
The sponsorship is a three-year deal that will deliver N$150 000 in cash and kit to the Wanderers Rugby club this year alone.
"These are much needed resources that will go a long way in ensuring the success of the club and rugby as a whole," Bock said.
