Ghana: From GCA to GHA

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) has presented $1,000.00 cheque to the senior national hockey side, Black Sticks ahead of their Hockey African Cup for Nations tournament which bullies off today at the newly-constructed hockey stadium in Accra.

Presenting the cheque to the squad, the chairman of the Ghana Cricket Association, Mr. P.D. Vanderpuye-Orgle said: "The contribution represents the association's widow's mite and to spur the team on to greater heights in the tourney."

He added that: "It is an opportune time to demonstrate to Ghanaians that if hockey is given the needed attention financial wise, it will win honours for the country."

The cheque was received by the Chairman of The Ghana Hockey Association, Mr. Oko Nikoi-Dzani, who thanked the Cricket Association for the gesture and urged others to follow suit.
