Kano — Kano State Television (CTV 44) has the capability to compete with any other television station in Nigeria, the Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, CTV 44, Alhaji Faruk Umar Usman, has said.

Usman, who spoke in Kano yesterday at a forum organized by Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) said "CTV 44 is a TV station that can compete with any TV station in this country because it has the facilities, manpower and professionalism to match others. No any station can compete with CTV if we are to work in the same terrain".

He also said some people underrate the performance of the station because it does not air such programs that are highly violent or indecent in nature.

According to him, the station is operating in compliance with the Islamic legal system which the state government is operating and therefore has a limit to its operations.

"We are operating within the tenants of Islamic Shari'ah legal system and that is why we don't air such programs that are highly violent such as American films and those that expose nudity of women", he said.
