Dutse — Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido has explained the petition written against the state government and has vowed to defend any government official that might be involved in the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking during a special programme in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria aired by the Jigawa State Radio Corporation, the governor explained that some of his aides were asked by the commission on the amount he collected in cash as a governor and the EFCC was told that he had never collected cash from any government official since he assumed office.
"I openly told them to fully cooperate with EFCC officials and give them any information they want from them during their investigation. The EFCC officials where in Jigawa for verification and some of my commissioners were invited by the commission for questioning," said the governor. Governor Lamido said the petitioner was accusing government of embezzlement of public funds for feeding in the boarding schools and renovation works at various secondary schools among other related allegations.
