Rwanda: Murenzi Seconded for Athletes Job

11 July 2009

Kigali — AFTER over one and a half years without a national athletics coach, the National Athletes Federation has seconded Emmanuel Murenzi for the job, subject to approval from the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc).

The federation's Secretary General Apollinaire Munyangoga recently revealed that of all those who have applied for the job, Murenzi stands out as the best option even though he holds a level two IAAF coaching certificate yet the post requires a level four certificate.

"We received applications from coaches from Kenya and France but they did not have the required IAAF level four coaching certificate," the official said.

Murenzi may not have the required certificate (IAAF level four certificate) but according to Munyangoga, he has vast experience in coaching after working with some of Rwanda's top athletes like Sylvain Rukundo and Jean Baptiste Simukeka.
