Last Saturday, Catholic Christians of the Douala Arch-Diocese organised a peaceful march in Douala to protest against the provisions of the July 11, 2003 Maputo Protocol, by which the African Union Summit holding in the Mozambican capital that year gave its approval to a number of conditions under which abortion can be entertained (see our other reports in this issue). An executive order by the President of the Republic of Cameroon last May 28, 2009 enacted the legislation into law following deliberations and its passing into law by the Cameroon National Assembly.
