Kaduna — South African Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Kingsley Mama Bolo, has said that Nigeria and South Africa have great roles to play in moving Africa to greater heights for development.
He also said the two countries with a long history of cultural ties can intensify it for the benefits of the citizens of their citizens and Africa in general.
The envoy said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State, where he told the governor that he was in state to consolidate on trades, political and economics issue between both countries.
According to him, the two countries share the same view on raging debates at the African Union (AU), while also declaring same position on African unity, economic integration and the prosperity of other smaller African country in the continent.
He recalled that during South Africa's struggle for independence, Nigeria gave her tremendous support with so many groups that were formed by the two countries, which should be revived and sustained especially with the African Union in place.
The diplomat further said that he has noticed that Kaduna State has a lot of potentials for South African investors wishing to invest in areas like the agricultural sector. He added that the state and many provinces in South Africa could go into capacity building and exchange of ideas.
Sambo, in a reply, said as a proof that the state was hungry for varied development in sectors like agriculture, water supply, electricity, solid minerals, mining and transportation, top management of the state Railway Transport Service attended a Railway Transportation Development Workshop twice recently in South Africa.
" And the state received a delegation from South Africa interested in large scale poultry farming. They were taken round the state and made to select a choice land for their project, with a promise of support of their project", the governor said.
