Rwanda: OTC Market Bounces Back to Register Rwf102,000 Turnover

Kigali — The Rwanda over the counter (OTC) market this week recorded a total turnover of Rwf102,000 from 600 Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) shares traded in two transactions at the price of Rwf170.

The Capital Market Advisory Council (CMAC) report said on Friday that this brings the total turnover to Rwf10.049 m from 61,100 shares traded since the bank introduced its shares on the Rwanda bourse three weeks ago.

At the close of the trading session on Friday, KCB counter had no shares on offer and no buyers.

On Thursday, on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) KCB shares fluctuated traded between Ksh23.25 (Rwf172) and Ksh23.75 (Rwf174) to close at Ksh23.25 (Rwf172), a decrease of Ksh.25 (Rwf2) from Wednesday's closing price of Ksh23.50(Rwf174).

The bond market remained quiet throughout the week as no transactions were recorded. At the close of the business, Rwf2 billion worth of government Treasury bonds were on offer at Rwf99.8 and were two bids of Rwf2 billion and Rwf5 million for the same bonds at 94.00 and 97.80, respectively.

There were also BCR bank bonds worth Rwf150 million on offer at Rwf100.50.
