Angola: Deputy Minister Highlights Importance of Joint Commission Meeting

Luanda — The Angolan deputy minister of Defence, Gaspar Rufino, Friday in Luanda, highlighted the importance of the activities of the 16th Angola/Namibia Joint Commission on Defence and Security, held on July 07-10 in Luanda.

Gaspar Rofino was speaking at the ceremony that marked the closing of the meeting that brought together defence ministers from the two countries, preceded by an experts session.

The vice minister praised the "interesting" work carried out by the experts in this field and the quality of the agenda presented to the ministerial session.

"It was this quality of work of the meeting of the ministers that allowed to take some important decisions for the implementation of the plans and programmes for the upcoming 12 months", he said.

In his turn, the Namibian minister of Defence, Charles Namoloh expressed his satisfaction at the way the works of the Joint Commission meeting were conducted, which resulted in fruitful decisions.

Participants to the event addressed, among other aspects, State and political security, focussed on cross-border crimes, with highlight to the trafficking of goods, car and cattle theft.

Forgery of documents and matters related to the circulation of people and goods along the border are also part of working agenda.
