Kampala — THE Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, has transferred several regional Police commanders to fill new positions created by the restructuring of the force.
"The shake-up is not disciplinary but purely meant to fill the new positions," said a senior Police source. "We still have very many vacancies to fill."
The Cabinet approved new structures which saw the force expanded from four to 11 directorates.
The directorates are Interpol and peace support operations, logistics and engineering, ICT, research and planning, human resource development and management, political commissariat, administration, operations and training, Kampala Metropolitan Police, CID and counter-terrorism.
