Kampala — BANGLADESHI industrialist Aziz Mohammad Bhai is in the country on a week-long working visit to explore investment opportunities.
Aziz owns a number of chain manufacturing industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals, oil refineries, steel making, battery manufacturing, wineries and electrical appliance making in Bangladesh.
He held a meeting with the Vice-President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya at the VIP Lounge at the Parliamentary Buildings in Kampala last week.
The Vice-President reaffirmed the Government's commitment to availing land to investors who not only contribute to job creation for Ugandans but provide taxes and also put up infrastructure like hospitals that benefit the community directly.
Aziz is in the country on the invitation by the Vice-President who met him during his visit to Bangladesh in June, the VP's office said in a statement.
The businessman is scheduled to hold meetings with President Yoweri Museveni and government officials to discuss possibilities of joint ventures.
He will also visit a number of culture and tourist sites like Kasubi tombs, wildlife centres like the Queen Elizabeth National Park and islands on Lake Victoria.
"Aziz was impressed with Uganda's unique endowments that include green scenic beauty and cool climatic conditions," the statement added.
