Uganda: Debating Skills Earn Girl Visit to Britain

Kampala — It has always been her dream to fly to Britain and she has achieved her dream. Ms Tina Kisakye, 13, a senior one student of Sarah Ntiiro High School, Mayuge District emerged the overall winner of a public speaking competition to scoop an all-expenses paid trip to London.

"It is really a dream come true. I am from a poor family but my hard work has started to pay me. I have never stepped in a plane and I simply see them hovering in the skies," a visibly elated Kisakye said.

According to Mr Bernard Atuhaire, the Director of External Relations, Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS)-Uganda, the organisation will cater for Ms Kisakye's two-week trip.

"She will be treated to a splendid reception by our donors and we expect her to market our projects and lobby for more funding," he said.
