Luanda — Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, on Saturday here called for understanding from all public institutions, churches, civil society and the United Nations to invest in women as much as they do in men foreseeing the reduction of poverty.
The government official made this appeal at the main event marking the World Population Day, July 11, which was being held under the motto "Investing in women as much as in men is the right choice".
She revealed that since 1987, when world recorded five billion citizens, governments and their partners have been witnessing the importance of the population in the implementation of strategies aimed at achieving the wellbeing of citizens.
The event, jointly organised by the ministries of Planning, Family and Health, was attended by the ministers of Planning, Ana dias Lourenço, of Health, José Van-Dúnem, secretary of state for Rural Development, Filomena Delgado, deputy governor of Luanda province, Juvelina Imperial, and the leader of the Tocoist Church, Bishop Afonso Nunes.
