Pieces of information intercepted by The Accra File reveals that prospective owners in the Ledzokuku Krowo municipality have developed a modus operandum to outsmart personnel of the assembly from not marking their buildings, which are sited on waterways and on roadways for demolition.
Explaining to the Accra File how some residents play their tricks on the Municipal Assembly's Task Force, a resident, who pleaded anonymity, said the prospective land buyers do not check the location of the land with Land Registry before buying.
He said after a hard day's work, to get the building in shape, a first warning is issued by the building inspectors who go round to check on these houses without permits, then these owners in trying to outsmart the authorities would then write in red paint, which is usually done by the task force, "STOP WORK AND PRODUCE PERMIT."
He said these home owners hide under the cover of darkness to execute their actions, adding that when you report to the Municipal Assembly, they would not shield your identity, but rather expose you to public ridicule.
He noted that due to these unfortunate instances, most buildings that need to be pulled down to pave way for construction, are still standing tall, impeding the development of the area.
He alleged that some of these owners sometimes connive with the taskforce for their buildings to stand without being marked or marked but without action being taken.
Efforts by The File to get in touch with the Municipal Assembly prove futile.
