The legendary pop music icon, Michael Jackson is gone. Today we celebrate the life of a legend whose career was well executed in his half a century lifespan.
Through his music, the world was healed and the cause for racial harmony was well fought. However, it is not clear whether the legendary MJ fought for the same Black Consciousness that other African-American legends like Martin Luther King and Reverend Jesse Jackson (a family friend and no relation) and others espoused.
I for one will never forgive the late Michael Jackson for living the life of pretence and thinking that being White is better. He is on record as saying he was not comfortable being Black. This is the reason he had to spend a fortune trying to run away from nature and his own race. Who said it was bad to be black, neither is it a curse? Michael's escapades served to give hatred to one's race as a black person. He was not proud of himself as a Black person, who had been able to achieve great fame in his lifetime but went ahead and changed the colour of his skin, mutilated his face and distorted his beautiful Black features.
How could a man so rich, famous and powerful feel insecure about the colour of his skin and looks? That he was rich was supposed to cover up for him - if ever there was a problem being who he was. He went ahead and defied what nature had given him and it is strongly suspected that the plastic surgery partly contributed to his ill health that led to his death.
He went on to spend millions of dollars in plastic surgery costs to try and be a White person. This running away has disgraced the American Black community. Michael Jackson had a strong distaste for Africa and anything to do with Africa around him. Whenever he visited Africa, he would be seen holding his artificial falling nose as if everything around him was smelly - Mugabe can bear testimony to that. Jackson did not shake hands with the Zimbabwean president in his own office in a very brief visit to the country sometime in the early 90s.
If MJ was to wake up at his memorial service he was going to be surprised that he was surrounded by Blacks and moving speeches came from the Black community who identified themselves with him. In his lifetime, I do not understand why he did not pluck a leaf from the likes of his own brothers and others such as the likes of Steve Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Billy Ocean and others who made their fame and popularity without having to fake and mess up with the colour of their skin and looks pretending to be White. He should have extracted some lessons of being Black and successful from these legendary icons. And of late, in his last days of life, he should have learnt from the first Black US President Barack Obama in his "We can" campaign who never made any pretence about his race.
Michael Jackson's attitude was like running away from one's shadow throughout his life - which is impossible. By so doing we will miss him but we, including the Black community in America feel betrayed by his life's escapades. Hollywood is full of black celebrities who have never made pretence about their race and have made it in life, even better than Whites. All the rich Blacks like Bill Cosby have never tried to look like Richard Branson.
They have always been themselves and their fame has done us proud as Blacks by not exalting the White race.
Michael's brother Jermaine, gave a passionate speech and song without any trace of trying to feign being White. Besides growing up in an average family and springing to celebrity status - which was enviable, there were very little lessons to learn from Michael Jackson. He had his fair share of brushes with the law in most cases on allegations of child molestations. Of course, it is also suspected that Jacko died from an overdose of prescription drugs as he had become a user.
Stars like Michael will be greatly missed but for being an unrealistic and fake person, there is nothing to extract from his being. It was a betrayal of the Black race. As a Black person, he should have been proud of that and show the world that Black is beautiful and there is nothing wrong with that. May his troubled soul rest in eternal peace then.

This has to be one of the dumbest stories ever written re: mj. This author is an idiot. Enough said.
I don't know if I should take this article seriously because it is such a shame for a "reporter" to be so off base. All Africa a respected new site so publishing a blatently false article is what is shameful to Africans. Where do I start: 1-when you say "he is on record saying he is not comfertable being black" can you as a reporter provide us a source? Ofcourse you won't because it doesn't exit. He has NEVER said anything like that. 2-can anyone change the color of their skin? Is it medically possible? Maybe you should provide proof to support your claim. 3-"it is suspected that plastic surgary contributed to his ill health and death" where are you getting your information from? NO ONE has ever said such a thing? Care to explain or provide your source of info? 4-Do you know anything about how the Black Americans as you call them felt about MJ? You are way off. We love MJ because we understand that his skin color change was due to Vitiligo. Something you would have learnt if you did a simple google search. 5-As far as him hating Africa and Africans read this http://www.savibes.com/music-news/373-mandela-foundation-leads-south-africa -tributes-to-michael-jackson.html Please do your research and write another article with an apology. I am sure you have access to the internet please use it. You are a disgrace to the entire continent of Africa.
I was so mad when writing my resnse that my post has a lot of typos. My apologies to the readers. But you mr. reporter shame on you
I don't know where to begin with this article. None of what you are reporting as fact is a fact. What is the reporting standard on this site? Why don't you provide us with links to articls or videos in which Michael says he doesn't want to be black? Isn't it your professional responsibility to report facts? As for the African American community, you should know that they LOVE micheal. Do you know how much money Michael has donated to Africa and the United Negro College Fund? You claim he wouldn't shake a black person's hand but yet there are pictures of him hugging Mandela as well as many African children. Please go to the internet and type in www.google.com - you will find facts. Perhaps you can apologize to all of us when you realize that what you published here is garbage.
I somewhat agree with the author's comments. I love MJ because I grew up with him. But I must say that I am embarrassed about him because I hate him trying to look white. I didn't what to believe it but the "writing is on the wall" for all of us to see. White people have cleft chins and small pointed noses. MJ was a very handsome little boy. Even as a young adult male (the Wiz, Rock With You Video) he was very good looking. The media only mentions the white girls but Stephanie Mills was very crazy about him before all of them even entered the picture. And then the Thriller came. He is the Thriller. Like Donald Trump said MJ probably looked in the mirror and said "What the ___ did I do to myself?" All we can do now is pray and ask ALMIGHTY GOD if HE will forgive mj for trying to change his looks and skin color and forgive us for any of our wrong-doings in the matter, whether it be listening to mj's music or accepting mj's style of life. Peace
