Somalia: Fresh Fighting Injures Four in Beledweyn Town

Somalia — At least 4 people have been injured after fresh fighting between the pro government and Islamist forces started in the Beledweyn town in Central Somalia, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Friday.

Reports from the town say that the fighting started as the Islamist forces attacked Galshire station in the neighborhood of October and Bunda-weyn in Beledweyn town in Hiran region as both sides exchanged heavy gunfire injuring four civilians during the battle.

Residents expressed concern about the fighting saying that the sound of heavy weapons could be heard in all directions in the town.

The real casualties of the fighting are unclear as both the warring sides of the government and Islamists exchanged heavy gunfire in the town.

Latest reports from the town say that the fighting stopped and the situations returned calm now.
