Africa: JSR Adada's Press Statement on the Escalation of Tensions Between Sudan and Chad

17 July 2009

Following Sudanese accusation against Chad of conducting air strikes inside its territories namely in the village of Umm Dukhum, a West Darfur town situated on the border between the two countries, the African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) in Darfur, Mr. Rodolphe Adada is calling on both Sudan and Chad to put to an end any hostile activities in the area.

"The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has been following reports of a renewed outburst of fighting in the border area between Chad and Sudan. We are deeply concerned at such reports which are being investigated by UNAMID and I once again urge all parties to

refrain from such escalation. The ongoing tension continues to be one of the major obstacles to the peace and security of Darfur.

"I would like to remind the Governments of Chad and Sudan that dialogue is the only solution to the situation. In that regard, I encourage you to desist from conflict even as diplomatic efforts are

being undertaken to bring an end to the ongoing tensions which could exacerbate conditions for Darfur's civilians.

"Good relations between Chad and Sudan are a key to ensuring lasting peace in the area."

    HEAD. THAT IS WHY WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT, SOUND, TASTE

    OR ANY OTHER NATURAL DISTRACTION. WE ARE SPIRITUAL WARRIORS !!!

    Make a Habit Of Praying Twice a Day (Sunset / Sunrise). Have A Daily Prayer, Weekly

    Prayer , Monthly Prayer, even Yearly Prayer ; keeping persons, organizations and causes

    in mind that you’d like to pray for at these intervals of time ( Daily-Weekly-Monthly-

    Yearly).
