Eritrea: Festival in Riyadh Colorfully Conducted

Asmara — Eritrea Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was conducted from July 15 to 17 in a colorful manner.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the chairman of the festival's coordinating committee, Mr. Ekud Hamid Ekud, stated that holding of such events serves as a platform to reinforce and preserve national unity and identity, as well as bequeathing societal values to the young generation. He further expressed appreciation to all individuals and parties that made due contribution for the success of the festival.

Also in a seminar he conducted to the participants, Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, Head of Economic Affairs at the PFDJ, pointed out that Eritrea is currently at a transitional period for a bright future as it firmly kept intact its independent political path and rebuffed all acts of conspiracy aimed at undermining its sovereignty.

Noting the fruitful outcome of the contributions being made by Eritrean nationals at home and abroad to back up the economic development endeavors and safeguard the country's sovereignty, he called on citizens to strengthen their ranks and enhance participation in national programs.

Likewise, the Eritrean Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mohammed Omar Mahmoud, stressed the significance of holding such an event and highlighted the need for enhancing the ongoing activities and initiatives towards assisting families of fallen heroes.

Different programs featured in the course of the 3-day festival, including arts exhibition depicting development achievements registered in the last 18 years, traditional fashion shows and folk dances of the country's ethnic groups that was prepared by the students of the Eritrean International School in Riyadh, general knowledge contest, sports competition and others. Mr. Hagos and Ambassador Mohammed handed prizes to those who demonstrated excellence in the competitions.

Sinit Cultural Troupe from Asmara staged musical performances, thus adding color to the event.
