Angola: Spelling Fusion to Facilitate Portuguese Language Affirmation

Luanda — The dean of Higher Institute of Education Sciences (Isced) in Luanda, Daniel Mingas, Monday in Luanda regarded that the fusion of spelling of Portuguese language will enable greater assertion of the idiom, in the international context and will facilitate the teaching and learning process.

Speaking at the light to the meeting concerning to treaty of Portuguese language spelling, promoted by Isced, the dean stated that the debate aimed at examining the main changes verified in terms of spelling, advantages and disadvantages as well as contributions towards that Angolan State adopts an attitude.

According to Daniel Mingas, the unification of Portuguese language, shared by eight countries geographically faraway from one another, illustrates the need of adjusting the idiom to new integration demands.

"The standardization, he explained will be advantageous for Angola, since most of bibliography used in the country comes from Brazil and Portugal, which will facilitate the teaching and learning process of the language itself".

The talk was addressed by the lecturer António Costa, who informed the participants on the main treaty characteristics, as well as theories in favour or against its implementation among the community of Portuguese-speaking countries.
