Tomorrow, UNAMID Police Commissioner, Michael Fryer, will lead UNAMID police and civilian staff members on a four-day long range patrol from El-Fasher to Kabkabiya and back, covering a distance of more than 300 kilometres. The patrol is being conducted as part of the Mission's efforts to establish stronger communication with Darfurians and to monitor the situation of returnees on the ground, especially those from Chad.
The first leg will end at Tawila, about 60 kilometres from El-Fasher, to visit newly returned internally displaced persons there.
The UNAMID convoy will stop at villages, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and farms along the way where UNAMID officials will have the opportunity to interact with residents of local communities.
The patrol is expected to end on Friday 24 July.

Obviously, UNAMID has derailed its mandate in Darfur and lost the bearing so it started to seize upon any thing - no matter waht is it- to have profile and to show visibility. in fact the issue of refugee returnees, IDPs, or any other kind of population movements are falling under UNHCR, IOM, and the Goverment of the Sudan represented by its Humanitarian Aids Commissioner (HAC) and UNAMID, intelligiblely, knows this but is willfully and delebrately trying to figure out her own mandate on account of the others. UNAMID in Darfur has failed taking over her commitments and will fail the others by horsing about and barking up the wrong trees. Should UNAMID like to help the people in Darfur she should stop messing up and concentrate on its real mandate so as not to loose the respect of the humanitarian community and the Goverment of the Sudan after loosing the trust of the Darfuris.

And Belgium changed its law rather than prosecute Ariel Sharon for war crimes.
The double standard cries out to us.
One country in the West, however, increasingly stands out as a place where
justice can be found?and that is Spain. With its landmark indictment of
Pinochet and its current consideration of Israeli war crimes in Lebanon and
U.S. torture in Guantanamo, we increasingly look to the Spanish Courts with
hope. It was the Spanish courts that returned indictments against Rwandan
soldiers for genocide even as the world coddles U.S. proxy Rwanda and its
leader, Paul Kagame.
