Abuja — In a bid to boost the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, NICON Group of companies Plc is having a plan to build a private University in the oil rich country.

A statement issued by the spokesman of NICON Insurance, Mr. Ade Adesokan said the group's chairman, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim made this known in Sao Tome and Principe during the official commissioning of a new branch, NICON Seguros office. According to the oil magnate, the construction work would commence 30 days after the acquisition of land from the Government of Sao Tome and Principe. "Our major concern in this Island is human capacity development; we intend to form an alliance with the Government of Sao Tome on the modality for the building of NICON University in Sao Tome. We strongly believe that the only way to open up the Island is to build a befitting university in the country", the statement said.

Jimoh said as part his company's drive offshore, new business opportunities in banking were being explored in Ghana.
