Justice Faith Mwondha this week chose to return to the High Court rather than appear before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee to defend her reappointment as Inspector General of Government.
In so doing, Justice Mwondha brought down the curtain on a dramatic four-year stint as the government ombudsman (would that be ombudswoman?), and six months of a melodramatic attempt to bypass parliamentary vetting. Whether acting IGG Raphael Baku is confirmed in his current position or another candidate appointed, Justice Mwondha's tenure holds important lessons for the next IGG.
