Cabinda — The Republic of Namibia, one of five member countries of Okavango-Zambezi Project Thursday in northern Cabinda province took up the coordination of the works of the initiative, which predicts to be one the of biggest cross-border references of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the world, being its first phase estimated at over USD 24 million.
At the end of the meeting, held from 22-23 July and which counted on the presence of tourism ministers namely of Angola, Zambia and Botswana, the Namibian government official, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah declared that is important that the governments work on raising financial resources for the success of the project.
Namibian minister emphasised also the need to offer an effective support to Angola in de-mining of the regions where the project is defined, particularly in Kuando Kubango province.
The initiative of Okavango-Zambezi tourism was launched in 1993 as a wild fauna concept, situated in the context of hydro-graphic basins of Okavango-Zambezi, linking part of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
