Ghana: Daniel Out, Who Is Next?

There is nothing like to going back to the oldies and listening to good old tunes from the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Whitney Housten, Aretha Franklin, Madonna and other great musicians, no wonder the auditorium of the National Theatre was filled to capacity, as the Contestants of Stars of the Future went way back into time!

Dubbed the "Old School Night", each of the eight contestants was costumed as a replica of the artiste whose song they had chosen, thus while Akosua, in her rendition of 'Natural Woman,' was draped in an all red satin gown and a hairdo Aretha Franklin would have worn back in the days, Enoch was in a white satin cut suite with a curly wig, as he performed 'Let's Kiss and Say goodbye' as was typical of the originators, the group known as the Manhattans.

If the competition was about fashion, then Nyaniba would have been heading out of the eviction zone in her chic square neck, body-hugging straight dress and red shoes, with a big red complementing bow tie on her waist, coupled with her red accessories.

The costumers did a great job with Rose's grey and cream netted balloon dress and silver pumps to match, not forgetting the black leggings she wore underneath her dress. She simply glowed as she bounced up and down the stage in her performance of Madonna's 'Holiday' song.

All one could hear were screams of wow, and thunderous clapping from the audience to the performances, and if only they were voting for their favorite contestant, it would have done more good than the noise.

Though all the contestants looked great last Friday night, including Daniel, Luigi and Christian, it still did not change the fact that one person would be leaving the house again on Monday, a norm they should be getting used to by now.

Thus when Chris Attor took the stage at the eviction grounds last Monday, he showed no mercy in executing the task at hand, unlike Jocelyn, the usual host of the eviction shows, who normally likes to ease down tension for the contestants, Chris was simply unpredictable.

With exactly four males and four females left in the competition, both sexes were confident none of their kind was going to be exhibited, but as the saying goes, 'Who the cap fit let them were it,' it was evident one or two of them had reflected on their performance and knew they were on shaky grounds.

Initially, the host disclosed the names of the golden moment's nominees, and that saved Bertha, Akosua and Enoch from eviction, as their performances had landed them the comfort of being nominated.

Although Christian was not nominated for the Golden Moment Award, he managed to stay clear off the bottom three nominated contestants on stage, which consisted of Nyaniba, Daniel and Luigi, while Rose took her seat to join Christian.

"If this was a miming show, then your performance would have been ok, but this is a singing competition," were the words of Kiki Banson to Daniel after his performance, and it seemed followers of the competition must have sided with him.

Despite landing themselves several times in the bottom three categories, once again Nyaniba and Luigi escaped being voted out of competition, leaving unfortunate Daniel to his fate, as he was shown the exit because he was a victim of eviction for this week.
