Eritrea: Gedec Construction Co. Implemented More Than 197 Projects

Asmara — Asmara July 26, 2009-In an interview he conducted with the Eritrean news agency, the Managing Director of the Gedec Construction Company, Mr. Mekonen Habtezion stated that owing to its modern technology and capable human resources the company had been able to compete with international companies and implement more than 197 projects within the country.

According to Mr. Mekonen, the company had been engaged in constructing roads, installing electricity and telephone lines, designing houses and other infrastructural works. He went on to point out that Keren-Tessenei and Massawa-Assab roads, the Asmara and Massawa airports, the Filfil-Selemuna bridge are some of the major projects implemented by the company.

Mr. Mekonen further disclosed that in addition to the role it plays in reviving the country's economy, Gedec strives to design and construct environmentally friendly buildings and structures that can provide durable services to the people.

Finally Mr. Mekonen called for the promotion of the implementation of infrastructural works that prioritize safety and can comply with all the required criteria.

The Gedec Construction Company was established in 1996 and currently employs 108 people.
