Italian fugitive Vito Palazzolo has broken several years of silence to fight back following the South African government's decision to press ahead with extraditing him to his home country.
A fortnight ago a court in Palermo, Italy, dismissed Palazzolo's appeal against a 2006 conviction for "Mafia association" and sentenced him to nine years' imprisonment. He was convicted in absentia.
