Luanda — The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Donald Kaberuka, affirmed this Thursday in Luanda, after a meeting with the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, that his institution is committed to working in the reconstruction process together with the people and government of Angola.
Speaking with the media after the audience of about 40 minutes, the AfDB chief congratulated Angola for the effort made to rebuild the country after the end of war, a deed reflected on the country's economic growth.
In his opinion, Angola is also congratulated for having achieved progress in the sectors of education and infrastructures.
He assured that he analysed with President José Eduardo dos Santos issues relating to the current world financial crisis and the means of reducing its impact.
Donald Kaberuka, a Rwandan national, stated that the Angolan economy, in slight growth, might contribute to the development of the African continent.
The senior African economist stressed that the relations between Angola and the AfDB were strengthened with the recent visit paid by the Angolan Planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço, to Tunis, Tunisia, which hosts the banking institution's headquarters.
"My trip to this country shows that these relations shall improve even more", he stated.
Angola is part of the group of 53 countries making up this continental banking institution, which has the mission of promoting the investment of public and financial capital in projects and programmes that might contribute to the economic development of member states.
