Nigeria: Nama Cautions Against Illegal Training of ATCs

Lagos — As part of its concern to adequately secure the nation's airspace, the management of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has warned against illegitimate training of Air Traffic Controllers and other technical personnel by some state governments, describing it as a threat to Nigeria aviation security.

According to the chairman governing board of NAMA Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje who gave the warning in Lagos, the Agency is the sole parastatal given the statutory responsibility by Act No 48 of 1999 to recruit and train personnel for Air traffic control at the Aviation College in Zaria, Kaduna State.
