Somalia: Four Killed in Battle Among Soldiers

Mogadishu, Somalia — Fighting erupted Thursday in the Somali capital Mogadishu between bodyguards of Somali Justice Minister Sheikh Abdirahman Janakow and another group of government soldiers, Radio Garowe reports.

At least four people including civilians were killed and six others wounded, witnesses and local sources reported.

The fighting erupted after Minister Janakow's soldiers attacked a convoy of soldiers traveling to Villa Baidoa military compound in Mogadishu.

The battle started at Zope intersection and spread into parts of Bulo Hubey neighborhood. The fighting stopped with Janakow's commander telling reporters that they were "suspicious" of the other soldiers.

The Justice Minister is currently visiting parts of Europe.
